CHILD & ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM (CACFP)

This program allows day care providers the opportunity for reimbursement through the USDA nutrition education program.  Providers are given a handbook with informational sections on the Child and Adult Care Food Program, Regulations & Requirements, Tiering & the Guidelines, Bigger Kids Menu, Infant Requirements, Menu by Number, Infant Menu by Numbers and A Sample Claim.  Other items include a place for Workshop Handouts, Crafts, Games, Songs & Finger plays, Newsletters and Recipes.

The basic meal pattern is based upon the food groups of proteins, fruits/vegetables, breads & milk.  Providers can choose to write out their menus or use a numbered pre-determined meal menu.

Meals are paid for on a 2 meal and 1 snack or 1 meal and 2 snack basis per day, per child.

Rates of payment are based on tiering and are effective from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.  Tiering is based on a system using the parent &/or caregiver income guidelines.  The current rates are:
